SILKSMP002_Silk sampler #2 |
|
|
|
|
Monday, 11 May 2009 |
Greatly inspired by strong international fan and DJ support (James
Grant, Matt Cerf, Ferry Corsten, Jaytech, etc.) to Silk Sampler #1,
A&R Max Flyant has put together a second collection of new tunes by
some of his favorite rising talents. Silk Sampler #2, albeit a
compilation of tunes, has the feel of a conceptual album: it begins
with the sole breaks track in the package, "A Place With You," produced
by talented American newcomer Bryant P. Kobana & Hatchet follow
with the grooving prog track "Antidotum," which draws clear influences
from Silk veteran Claes Rosen. The extremely versatile Canadian
producer Dezza continues the progressive trend with "Let's Go For a
Walk," an upbeat, happy-go-lucky groove that would surely enhance a
brisk summer stroll. As the energy continues to build, Shingo Nakamura
invites you to return to the fabled world of "Alice in Wonderland," as
Shingo's piano expertise is once again on display with gorgeous
melodies throughout. The subsequent "Thought" (Luiz B) clearly follows
in the Deadmau5 tradition, though, the softer beats, piano lines, and
atmospheric samples provide this tune with its own originality.
Rounding out the first half of the package, Aeron Aether has graced
Silk once again with "Synthanelia,"distinctive for it's dynamic and
highly innovative use of pad and string effects, not to mention its
thundering bassline. Although the latter half of the sampler shifts
into more down-tempo prog, Russian act Atlantis Ocean has provided us
with one last high octane tune, "Priceless." Next in line - "North
Circ" by Solarity, whose "Terminal 6" was a standout on Sampler #1. The
vibe of this offering by the English duo, in contrast, is much more
subdued and moody. Tive and Jaksa Pavicevic follow suit with "Kirby's
Dream" and "Shanghai Winter Scene (respectively), both end-of-the-night
prog-tech stunners. Capping things off, Probspot has revived his long
dormant alias Zinfandel with "Nocturnal." Vintage rhythms and synths
from the renowned Swedish producer join lush pads and an obscure vocal
sample ("This is where the magic starts") to triumphantly close out the
compilation. |

SILK012_FASKIL :: Rezi [remixes] |
|
|
|
|
Sunday, 29 March 2009 |
|
Silk Digital is thrilled to deliver an additional collection of remixes
of Faskil's "Rezi" - already a standout release on Silk Sofa. The
opening remix by Coalesced provides the energy and drive that the duo's
ambient take chose to neglect - heavy breaks and bass enhance the moody
pads and vocals of the original. Russian producer Bambaat provides
progressive house rendering - centering on a deep, gurgling bassline
and hypnotic hat pattern. Hungarian duo Faces, who have been producing
quality progressive at a torrid rate this past year, have provided a
more upbeat remix, including some gorgeous new melody lines that bring
new life to the original. The last contributor to the package is
veteran producer Baltic Sound (a.k.a. Ilya Malyuev), who lends his
uniquely pensive and poignant vibe to both his Main and Soft Dub Mix.
The floating-on-a-cloud texture of the Main Mix is classic progressive
and vintage Baltic Sound all the same, while the stripped-down Soft Dub
provides a final, more "heady" perspective on the original. |

SILK011_AERON AETHER :: Aeron is coming |
|
|
|
|
Saturday, 21 February 2009 |
Silk Digital's latest release showcases the work of Hungarian artist
Aeron Aether, who recently had an impressive run on the Beatport breaks
chart with "Kaivalya." In both sound and title, Aeron's emergence this
past year is encapsulated brilliantly by the Original Mix of "Aeron is
Coming." The introduction of the track, with its swirling sweeps,
beeps, and glitches, provides the perfect prologue to the outer-worldly
textures to come. By the midway point, a heavy electro-tinged bassline
and contagious vocal hook have entered the fray. Yet, the song really
takes off during the breakdown: the brilliant combination of celestial
synth lines and effects launch the listener into the far reaches of the
cosmos. The spirit of the Original is not lost in the deep-prog
interpretations by Reelaux and Silence O'Phobia. Mongewz's Remix, on
the contrary, is a much more edgy, techy, and beat-driven experience --
sure to get a positive response from fans of the underground, dirty
house vibe.
In the second half of the release, Aeron demonstrates his passion for
breaks, with the hard-hitting, yet equally atmospheric track, "Lake in
the Well." Starting out as the perfect soundtrack piece to sci-fi
classics like The Terminator, with it's aggressive pace and robotic
stabs and glitches, the beats are suddenly released, and the listener
is left with a haunting soundscape of pads and bell sounds. This
pattern is replicated leading into the second break, which,
consequently, is even more poignant than first. The UK duo Coalesced
has retained the industrial energy of the original, with their
progressive interpretation: a driving, chunky bassline are met by
newly added pads, which soar gently above. The Fetish and Embliss
remixes are also in the prog vein, though, these takes give the
melodies and textures a bit more breathing room. Fans of the classic
progressive sound should not overlook these two masterful cuts.
Finally, newcomer FrontDoorBoy offers another breaks rendering, though,
without the ferocity and drive of the original. The result is a
relatively more pensive, down-tempo mood, albeit no less rich and
sophisticated than the rest of the pack. |

Saturday, 17 January 2009 |
Silk Digital presents a second sampler release in 2009 - now it's a
selection of the best Silk artist's tracks. It opens with a great, full
of melodical features, outstanding piano improvisation, flowing rhythm
house track of one of well-known house producers nowadays - Claes
Rosen. Next to come up is a much deeper, melancholic work of Invisible
Sounds presenting his new project - Domestic Technology, following by
Arthur Deep's classical progressive house tune and Mango's new project
- Shoreliners track, that bring more melodic and light sound to all of
his fans. The fifth track with some really actual beats was brought to
you by our upcoming talents - Playton & Deeman. Right after them
you can enjoy an awesome club-storming stuff from UK duo - Solarity!
The rest two work ending this compilation come from Monojoke, who made
an unusual for him but really successful experiment in breaks genre and
also an epic breaks tune from Aeron Aether and Elfsong's duo, that
reminds of Sasha & James Holden's "Bloodlock". Don't miss this
absolutely different but the same in one - its high quality sound
compilation... |

SILK010_SOUNDSTORM :: Iris (eyes of a girl) |
|
|
|
|
Monday, 08 December 2008 |
|
Hello everyone! Catch a new huge release from a well-know among young
progressive producers from Hungary - Soundstorm (Szaki)! "Iris (eyes of
a girl)" consistes of two original tracks "Iris" & "Contact", which
were in fact among the oldest tracks of Szaki. Later they were reworked
and their sound was refreshed in an amazing way! These two are
absolutely outstanding examples of quality, detailed & deep
progressive house. Together with them goes a pack of strong remixes
from East Cafe (melancholic breaks tune), Chris Luzz (epic journey
remix with more dancefloor-friendly mood), Marrakech (their classic
sound they are famous for, a little bit minimalistic & techy),
Dynamic Illusion (deep-in-space, highly-detailed & extremely
melodic remix), Arthur Deep (brings his unique style of calm deep
melodies) and a debut work of Flyant (more positive and housy work
comparing to others).
Silk Digital crew ends 2008 year with this release and wish all our
fans Happy New Year & Merry Christmas! More memorable and beautiful
music will follow in 2009 - we give you our word! ;) |
